12 months of historic churches To fill its “collection plate,” Historic Everett needed a fundraiser.They hit on a worthy project, with buyers in place, at congregations in downtown Everett. Many will want a copy of the Historic Everett Churches 2010 Calendar. The calendar shows pictures of churches and offers a history lesson about a dozen structures. “We’re October,” said Barbara Lichneckert, office manager at Central Lutheran Church. “We are flattered.” Central Lutheran celebrated a centennial in 2004. It started in 1904 as Ebenezer United Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Congregation and became Central Lutheran in 1926. Church history is included with each month. David Chrisman with Historic Everett said church buildings are often overlooked in preservation circles, but the calendar spotlights a dozen buildings for all to cherish. “Everett is filled with many beautiful churches, some quite historic,” Chrisman said. “Inspired by the upcoming 100th anniversary of the First Presbyterian Church, the theme has also grown into plans for a churches’ open house day for summer 2010.” In the calendar, historian David Dilgard contributed introductions while historian Jack O’Donnell shared postcard images and a chronology of Everett events throughout each month.
